According to a news release from Michigan State Police, a shooting occurred at a street party in Saginaw, Mich., in the early hours of Saturday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to 15 others.
After midnight, the police began receiving calls regarding the shooting. A preliminary investigation conducted by state police revealed that the incident stemmed from a fight that erupted among party attendees, leading to retaliatory gunfire from others in the crowd. The authorities noted that the shooting involved at least five different types of firearms.
Tragically, a 19-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman lost their lives in the incident. The injured victims, numbering 15, were promptly transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. Some sustained gunshot wounds, while others were hurt as they tried to escape the scene and were struck by cars, as stated in the news release.
The police reported that law enforcement officers were in the vicinity at the time of the shooting, having previously made efforts to disperse the large gathering at the street party.
