Saskatoon, Canada – A 22-year-old woman, Paige Theriault-Fisher, has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal altercation that occurred early Saturday morning at the Crazy Cactus bar. The incident claimed the life of 23-year-old Hodan Hashi. Theriault-Fisher made her appearance in provincial court on Monday to face the charges.
Initially charged with second-degree murder, the charge against Theriault-Fisher was later downgraded to a lesser offense. Following the court hearing, she was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Thursday. The fatal confrontation took place shortly before 3:00 a.m. CST on November 5, inside the bar located on the 200 block of Third Avenue South.
The incident gained significant attention due to the circulation of multiple videos on social media capturing different angles of the altercation. These videos, which have been provided to CBC, depict two women engaged in a physical struggle while onlookers observed. At one point, one of the women places the other in a headlock, and they both fall to the floor. Amidst the chaos, a voice over a PA system can be heard referring to the incident as a “bβh fight on the dance floor.” During the struggle, one of the women repeatedly strikes the other in the facial and neck area, and it remains unclear if an object was involved.
Tragically, a substantial pool of blood emerges beneath the woman on the bottom. Eventually, the two are separated, and they both rise to their feet. The injured woman attempts to wipe blood from her neck before taking a few steps and collapsing.
A spokesperson from the Saskatoon Police has confirmed that investigators are aware of the circulating videos. “Our homicide investigators have been diligently processing a significant amount of evidence in this case,” stated Alyson Edwards. “While we appreciate the public’s cooperation in providing us with additional videos, our investigators believe they have obtained the necessary evidence for their investigation.”
