Arizona Street Racing Task Force Use Grappler Police Bumper To End Pursuit

In Mesa, Arizona, on Saturday, June 10, 2023, authorities from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and their counterparts in the Street Racing Task Force swiftly responded to multiple reports of vehicles engaging in intersection takeovers across the Valley.

In one incident at an intersection in Mesa, a pedestrian participant was struck by one of the involved drivers, who then fled the scene.

Working in collaboration with task force partners, including the Mesa Police Department, Phoenix Police Department, and Tempe Police Department, law enforcement located the suspect vehicle.

An AZDPS sergeant skillfully employed the Grappler Police Bumper, successfully ensnaring one of the rear tires of the vehicle and safely bringing it to a halt.

Both the driver and passenger, both 17-year-old males, were apprehended and issued citations for street racing, while the vehicle was impounded.
